Since 2018, Carsten K. Rath and his son David Rath have been organizing the ranking of the 101 best hotels in Germany with their Swiss Institute for Service & Leadership Excellence.
At the end of November, the “who’s who of the German hotel industry” was honored at a festive gala in Wildbad Kreuth on Lake Tegernsee. Prominently supported by “Mr. Tegernsee” Korbinian Kohler and his Bachmair Weissach Gruppe and framed by the first 101 Executive Summit, where the leading CEOs of international hotel chains exchanged views on sustainability and social responsibility. Also on the podium: Neil Jacobs from Six Senses and Dr. Timo Grünert from Oetker Collection, Puneet Chhatwal from TAJ Hotels, Martin R. Smura from Grand Metropolitan Hotels, Christian Boyens from Belmond and René Nijhof from Kempinski, who spontaneously invited the 101 best to Munich’s Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten for 2024 at the end of the gala.
The 101 best
The independent ranking aims to provide travelers with orientation in the increasingly confusing world of hotels and resorts. It guarantees the highest degree of objectivity and is therefore quite unique in Germany. The overall winner
The absolute number 1 and thus the hotel of the year is once again the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg. “The hotel has stood for timeless elegance since 1897, it has a top location on the Binnenalster and its two-star restaurant Haerlin is run by Christoph Rüffer, one of the best chefs in Germany,” the board of trustees said in its statement. General Manager Ingo C. Peters was delighted with the award and said: “We are very proud to receive this prestigious award. Day after day, our entire team is committed to offering our guests service par excellence.”
